Summary of the assignment:

This assignment for me was a little difficult because I had hardly any time to dedicate to shooting this week. On top of that, capturing honest emotion after you ask people to take their photo. I’m also having trouble with finding the right angle that is creative and has the right lighting. I was wishing this whole assignment that I could just whip my camera out and snap photos of people without their permission. (obviously I didn’t do that). I did learn a lot though. Last night when I still needed another location and more people I was feeling in a bit of a rut. I was hanging out with one of my photographer friends and he went to Aslan Brewing Co. with me and when I was struggling who to ask to photograph and he said he would come with me and shoot them too. I was super intrigued by the way he approached them. He told them “hey we’re both in a photojournalism class (I told him to say that) and you guys look like you’re having a great time, our assignment is to capture some people having a good time so would you mind us taking photos of you?” and they were super receptive of that. I didn’t ever think of opening it like that with a compliment and I think I’m going to continue to use that technique. Overall though I was happy that I captured emotions between two people and I think both of my photos tell a story between the people.
