About

Jess Vangel is a Visual Journalist, Director of Photography, & Projectionist based in Seattle, WA. She is passionate about storytelling through visuals & hopes to keep creating work that tells compelling narratives. She graduated from Western Washington University in 2019 with a degree in Visual Journalism & Film Studies.

She is passionate about event photography & videography, fashion based work, music based work, short films, & documentary work.

She has worked as photo editor for Klipsun Magazine, film production assistant & event coordinator at the Digital Media Center, as well as film production intern at Talking to Crows LLC during her time at WWU. She taught classes to students on operating rental cameras & filmmaking because of her passion for connecting students interested in film as there is no film major at WWU. After graduation she worked as a projectionist at Pickford Film Center as well as a Director of Photography on a few projects coming out soon!

She loves animals, cider, dancing, drawing, horror films & spooky things. When she’s not working you can probably find her sipping a cider with her dog & watching a scary movie or out somewhere dancing like a fool.

She is available for photography and videography work, slowly easing into post-coronavirus workflow. 30% of all proceeds will go to the Black Lives Matter movement & work is currently free for the Black Community.
